Dear Editor,
As we come to the close of Indigenous Heritage Month 2017, I acknowledge that many would have contributed positively towards the growth of Guyana just after Independence 1966.
Koko Mary
However, I am almost certain that many would have done their part prior to Independence, and as I was perusing a historic book of 1961, captioned ‘TIMEHRI MAGAZINE…The Journal of The Royal Agricultural and Commercial Society of British Guiana’, there was featured one “KOKO MARY”, who appears to have been an Indigenous woman, and I am almost certain she played a pivotal role from or within her community and former British Guiana at large.
Perhaps a family member or historian can educate us on who “Koko Mary” was.
