Williams celebrates return with sweet victory

Geron Williams marked his return from injury with a superb victory in the 13th annual Hand in Hand Insurance Companies Cycle meet at the inner circuit of the National Park on Saturday.
Returning to the local cycling scene after a month long layoff due to injury, Williams rode well and executed his game plan to perfection. He conserved energy in the early stages of the race despite being in the chasing pack.
In the early laps, Shaquel Agard and Paul DeNobrega led for quite a few laps with some distance between them and the chasers; however Williams along with Raynauth “Obeah Man” Jeffrey, Kemuel Moses and Christopher “Chicken Legs” Griffith kept pace and eventually overtook them.

Speaking after the race, Williams said that the race was a test and was much faster than he had initially anticipated but nevertheless pointed out that he felt “good” after being out of action for a month.
He also highlighted that the competition level was right up there, Williams now sets his sights on the upcoming Kadir Mohamed Road race slated for next Sunday (October 15) where cyclists will compete for an ounce of gold.
