Win over USVI gives Guyana slim chance

CFU Under-17 Football Championships…

Playing at the Lionel Roberts Stadium, a 1-0 win over hosts United States Virgin Islands (USVI) on Sunday gave Guyana slim chance of qualifying to the second round of the championship after they loss their opening match to Jamaica 4-1 in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-17 Championship.
Joshua Ferreira netted in the 13th to give his team, the all important victory, as they face second-placed Antigua and Barbuda today from 14:00h.
The win means Guyana are placed into third spot on three points and stay in contention of qualifying to the second round of the championship.
Guyana’s squad for the event reads (Goalkeepers) Jonathan Copeland, Sese Norville, (Defenders) Jeremy Garrett, Cicil Jackman, Ackel Forde, Kevin Padmore, Cosmo De Santos, Javier Smith, Alwin Franklin (Midfielders) Rondel Peters, Lorenzo Miller, Tyrel Khan, Nicholas Mc Arthur, Roberto Case (overseas) (Forwards) Malachi Adonis, Joshua Ferreira (overseas), Daniel Floy, Kobe Durant and Omar Brewley.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude on September 25, 2016 in Trinidad and Tobago.
