The Berbice Cricket Board’s (BCB’s) Friends of Berbice Cricket, organised by Anil Beharry and group, bowled off on Sunday last. The boys from Tucber Park, playing in two separate teams, got wins in their respective matches. Tucber Park ‘A’ defeated GUYMINE by five wickets, while Tucber Park ‘B’ humbled Rose Hall Canje by 16 runs.
Tucber Park ‘A’ vs GUYMINE
Batting first at Rose Hall Canje, GUYMINE scored 94-8 in their allotted 100 balls. K Ramsaran scored 31, and Devon Clements led the way with the bat. Clements, batting at the top of the order for GUYMINE, scored 23, hitting two sixes.
Bowling for Tucber Park ‘A’, fast bowler Shamar Joseph had 3-15 in his top spell. He received support from Leon Swamy, Gevon Schultz, Winslow Roberts and Kwesi Mickle, who each had one wicket.
In reply, Tucber Park ‘B’ reached 95-5 in 13.1 overs, with Clifton Lindie leading the way with an unbeaten 52, which included three fours and two sixes. Malcolm Mickle scored an unbeaten 11 in the win by Tucber Park ‘A’.
Rose Hall Canje vs Tucber Park ‘B’
In the other fixture, the young guns in Tucber Park ‘B’ upset the Rose Hall Canje boys in a 16-run win. Batting first, Tucber Park ‘B’ scored 117-7 in 100 balls. Blazing innings came from former Guyana U-15 player Tomani Caesar, who scored 32; while Rayon Rose scored 30 runs. Bowling for Rose Hall Canje, Ameer Rahaman and Balram Samaroo had two wickets each.
Rose Hall Canje fell short by 16 runs when they were restricted to 101-9, with Joel Davis and Abdul Ramsammy grabbing two wickets each. Davis had 2-31 with his upbeat right arm medium, while off-spinner and captain Ramsammy had 2-13. For the Rose Hall Canje boys, only Balram Samaroo scored 32, while Devandra Ramkishun scored 22.
