GCB Tropical Springs T20 Over 40 Tournament…

In the sixth round of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB’s) Tropical Springs Water T20 Over-40 tournament, West Demerara Mavericks, Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec, and West Demerara Masters registered wins in matches played at Enmore and Everest.

Richard Ramdeen continued to score with the bat

In the afternoon match at the Everest Cricket Club ground, WD Mavericks batted first and amassed 103 for 6 off their allotted 13 overs, after the overs in play were reduced from 20 per side. Munishwar Balgobin slammed 56, inclusive of 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Sohan Bedessie provided valuable support with 22, hitting 2 sixes in the process. The only other batsman to reach double figures was Lalta Suknanand, with 13. Bowling for Sand Pipers Masters, Bhupendra Deokie took 2 for 35 from 3 overs, while there was one wicket each for Nandkrishna Ram, Rickford Samaroo and Davenarine Singh.

Bel Air Rubis took a five-wicket win

In reply, Sand Pipers Masters never appeared capable of reaching the victory target, and their run chase ended at 69 for 7 with the expiry of their allotted 13 overs. Middle order batsman Rickford Samaroo stroke 30 in a knock that included 1 four and I six. The other batsman to reach double figures was Ryan Mangah, with 16. Amarnauth Jadunauth and Alwen Andrews were both not out on 1.
Bowling for WD Mavericks, Devendra Ramdihal claimed 3 for 22 from 3 overs, while Nigel Vieira and Sohan Bedessie took one wicket each as WD Mavericks won by 34 runs.
Over at the Enmore ground, Regal Masters won the toss against WD Masters and elected to bat. They posted 119-7 off 18 overs. Opening batsman Rudolph Baker made a brilliant contribution of 45 which was decked with 3 sixes and 3 fours, and his teammates Roy Persaud and Chien Gittens added 19 and 16 respectively.
On the Bowling side, Boodram Sugrim and Steve Haripal picked up 2 wickets each in an attempt to restrict their opponents.
For the reply, WD Masters raced to victory in 17.1 overs, reaching their target of 120 with 5 wickets to spare.
Undefeated Middle-order batsman Chabiraj Ramcharran outshone his competitors with a smashing 55 runs sculpted with 4 sixes and 1 four. Sudesh Persaud added the other attractive double-digit score of 31 to launch their team to victory.
Conrad Boele sent both opening batsmen on their way, returning figures of 2-12 as West Demerara won by 5 wickets.
For the afternoon segment, vying for the win, RP Construction and Bel Air Rubis took to the field. RP Construction elected to bat, having won the toss. It was a regrettable decision against the Bel Air Rubis bowlers, who quickly decimated the line-up of RP batsmen in 14.3 overs, ending their innings at 87 runs. Jai Kissoon, Khemraj Jailall and Parmanand Dindyal contributed 29, 15 and 13 runs respectively, with each batsman hitting a boundary. The dominant bowlers were Oslyn Batson (2-6) and Nadir Baksh (2-10), whose incisive bowling restricted their opponents.
In reply, Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec productively paced their innings to reach 88 for 5 from 19.4 overs. Richard Ramdeem stroked 27, inclusive of 1 four and 1 six, while Shaun Messiah was unbeaten on 21, a knock which included 1 four. The other batsmen to get among the runs were: Nadir Baksh with 17, inclusive of 1 four; Harinarine Hira with 10, and Oslyn Batson with 8 not out. Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec won the match by 5 runs.
Round seven matches of the GCB’s Tropical Springs T20 Over 40 Tournament continue at the Everest and Enmore venues on Saturday December 5. At Everest, KV Construction Masters will face WD Masters from 09:30 hours, while Sand Pipers Masters will battle Everest Masters from 13:45 hours.
The Enmore ground would see Regal Masters opposing RP Construction Legend in the first encounter of the day, from 0930 hours, and WD Mavericks competing against Rubis Bel-Air Ultra Tec.
