Wismar raid unearths 12.2kg ganja

A 57-year-old gold miner is now in hot water after he was caught with 12.2 kilograms of marijuana during a raid in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Reports are the discovery was made between 04:00h and 06:00h on Friday at Victory Valley, Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden.
Police said the raid was conducted at homes of several persons in the Wismar Station District, for drugs, ammunition, guns and wanted persons.

The marijuana which was found in the miner’s possession

During a search at the home of the gold miner of Victory Valley Squatting Area, Wismar, two large shopping bags containing three large parcels and a white plastic bag with nine ziplock bags all containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana, were discovered.
As such the miner was arrested.
The narcotics were subsequently weighed and amounted to 12.2kg.
Only on Thursday, three men were arrested after they were found with a quantity of cannabis.
Police said that at about 16:30h, Police officers conducted a cordon and search exercise at “Spliff” Street, Church of God Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
During the operation, a 34-year-old male of Middlewalk Buxton, ECD, was searched, and Police discovered 66 transparent ziplock bags containing a quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
On the same day, Police conducted another search on a 27-year-old man of B Buxton, ECD, and found 11 transparent ziplock bags containing a number of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Further, a search conducted on a 35-year-old man, also of Buxton, ECD, unearthed a transparent ziplock bag containing a quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Also, cops discovered a ziplock bag in a bush on the southern side of “Spliff” Street, Church of God Road, ECD, containing 262 grams of cannabis. The men were told of the offence committed and arrested. (G9)
