Woman injured after motorcycle collides with dog

A woman has sustained injuries about her head and body after the motorcycle on which she was travelling collided with a dog on New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara). This accident occurred on Tuesday at about 19:45h.
Reports are that 24-year-old Christal Baptiste and a three-year-old child were pillion riders on motorcycle CJ9975 being driven by Mitch Thomas when the incident involving the dog occurred.
The rider of the motorcycle claimed that, as he was proceeding west along the southern side of New Road, a brown dog ran from north to south across the road and collided with the right-side footrest of his vehicle, causing the pillion rider to fall and sustain injuries to her face and body.
She was picked up and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where the doctor who attended to her referred her to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical treatment.
The driver was subjected to a breathalyser test, for which .00% BAC was recorded. He was, however, detained and a notice of intended prosecution was served on him. All these persons involved in this accident are from Middle Street, Pouderoyen. Investigations are still ongoing. (G9)
