Forty-year-old Kemela Chinapin was, in the wee hours of Thursday, injured following a two-vehicle collision along the Rupert Craig Highway between Conversation Tree Road and Bel Air Access Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The accident reportedly involved motorcar PLL 724 and minibus PDD 6571 being driven by a 62-year-old man of La Bonne Intention, ECD.

The Police have said that on the day in question, the minibus was proceeding along the Rupert Craig Highway when the driver allegedly felt an impact to the rear portion of the minibus that caused the vehicle to spin several times.
The driver further alleged that, after the collision, the driver of motorcar PLL 724 exited his vehicle and fled in an easterly direction on Rupert Craig Highway.

Chinapin, who was seated in the front passenger’s seat, was thrown through the front windscreen by the impact of the collision, and received several injuries about her body. She was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she was admitted a patient.
The motorcar was taken to the Kitty Police Station, where it has been lodged as investigations continue.
