Woman nabbed attempting to smuggle ganja, phone into prison
A Sophia resident has been taken into custody after she was found in possession of 66 grams of cannabis and several pieces of electronic gadgets that were intended to be smuggled in to an inmate at the Timehri Prison.
Based on reports received, the 37-year-old woman was nabbed by ranks of the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service at a restaurant a short distance away from the penitentiary even as a plan was being hatched to smuggle the items into the penitentiary.
The suspect, who is cooperating with investigators, is being processed for court.
