A woman was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman after she was slapped with a possession of narcotics charge.
Jenny Acford, 20, of Phase One, East Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge when she appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The charge stated that on August 4, 2016 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), the defendant was intercepted with an undisclosed amount of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The prosecution’s file on the matter is still incomplete; as such, the details were not revealed in court.
The young woman was remanded to prison and would return to court on September 13.
