Woman stabs knife-wielding husband threatening to kill her

A 32-year-old woman stabbed her husband at their Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) residence after he threatened to kill her at knifepoint.
According to Police reports, the wounding incident occurred at about 21:00h on Wednesday.
The woman, a supervisor at Church’s Chicken, went home after a day out, and a heated argument ensued with her 27-year-old partner. As he questioned her whereabouts, the taxi driver armed himself with a knife, placed it across her neck, and threatened to kill her. He then placed the knife on the kitchen counter, and the woman picked it up and dealt him one stab wound.
In reaction, the injured man went into the living room, picked up a cutlass and inflicted several injures about the woman’s body with the flat side of the weapon. She also received a chop wound to her right index finger.
They were both taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty. The woman was treated, discharged, and thereafter arrested and placed into Police custody.
Her spouse was admitted a patient suffering a punctured lung. He was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where a surgery is scheduled.
The cutlass and knife were retrieved by the Police and lodged as exhibits. Police are continuing their investigations. (G12)
