Two women on Wednesday appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where they both faced assault charges.
Pauline Simon, 58, a vendor of Lot 241 ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown; and Julie Lancaster, 40, of Lot 630 La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, were both charged for assaulting each other on September 19, 2018. Simon initially pleaded guilty to the charge while Lancaster denied the offence.
According to the prosecution’s case, on September 19, at Water Street, Georgetown, both Simon and Lancaster assaulted each other.
Simon told the court that she did not intend to push Lancaster to cause any altercation. As such, her guilty plea was charged to not guilty.
Magistrate Azore granted the duo bail of $10,000 each.
Additionally, 29-year-old Vanessa Griffith, a cashier at Courts Guyana Inc and 26-year-old Desmond Williams of Lot 738 Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, were also charged for assaulting each other on September 20, 2018.
Both parties denied the allegation made out against them.
The Police prosecutor made no objection to bail and Magistrate Azore granted Griffith bail in the sum of $10,000 while Williams was placed on $15,000.
