The Guyana Association of Women Police on Saturday evening hosted a grand cultural evening in celebration of Guyana meeting its milestone of 50 years as an Independent Nation at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
With theme ‘No culture can live if it attempts to be exclusive’ the event saw those attending beautifully attired in their respective ethnic clothing.
With songs, music and laughter all celebrated together embracing the culture of each other.
Speaking with Guyana Times event coordinator Superintendent Charmine Stewart said that in organising the event, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) avoided including one ethnic group.
“The Guyana Police Force is made up different cultures as such we wanted all cultures to be included and to participate in this event.”
The event saw participation from Youth Groups, Police women from as far as Berbice, As well as participation from all of the divisions.
Also on board lending their support to the event was the Chinese Association that wooed the audience with the Lion’s Dance.
Closing off the evening, the audience were able to partake in games which saw numerous prizes being won.
