Youth cricketers targeted in Player Development Programme
Cricket West Indies (CWI), through the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) hosted a player development programme at the Chetram Singh Centre of Excellence, La Bonne Intention (LBI) on Monday March 5, 2018 which was geared to empower the national under-15 squad.

Manager, Ayana Cooper; Child Protection Officer, Orette Francois; Ministry of Education’s Unit of Allied Arts representative Nicholas Fraser and the 20-member national under-15 squad where valuable information on Child Protection and mental skill empowerment were shared.
During the session, Fraser and Francois presented very informative presentations on what is child abuse, neglect, physical abuse and emotional abuse. Players were also taught about their responsibilities and rights as well as the laws of Guyana with reference to abuse.
Additionally, CWI Mental Skill Coach, Guyanese Shabakie Fernandes, presented a number of interactive sessions with the target group, which included essential topics of Coach Ability and attitude, readiness and goal setting as well as building confidence and composure.
The U-15 players were very receptive, and indicated that the information shared will help them to effectively execute their skills in a match setting, by assisting them to raise their production level and win matches.
