YWCC set to launch 5/5 one-day tournament on February 24

For the first time, 10 Second-Division teams will vie for the coveted prize of $60,000 and a trophy as the Young Warriors Cricket Club (YWCC), home to West Indies batting star Shimron Hetmyer, will host a one-day five overs per side competition at the Cumberland Ground, East Canje, Berbice on February 24, 2019.
Speaking with Guyana Times Sport, Satanand Mahabir, one of the coordinators of the event, stated that the main aim of the event was to rebuild the quality of the YWCC, while bringing entertainment to the communities and showcasing the high level of talent that the club produces. The YWCC are also set to launch their Mash Cup 2019 on February 23 after a two-year absence.
The action will kick start the jam-packed day at 09:00h sharp as the home team, Rose Hall Canje, Kendall Union, No 19, Gangaram, Reliance, Adelphi, Good Banana Land, Edinburgh and Tucber all battle for supremacy in the epic showdown.
The runners-up will receive $30,000 and a trophy while the man of the match in the final will receive $5000 and a trophy.
The individuals finishing with the most runs and the most wickets in the tournament will receive Tech Gadgets as an incentive.
In addition, players will also have the chance to win special prizes if they are able to hit any of the Stag Beer flags tactically placed around the ground.
