‒ to offer UG scholarship programme
Four Guyanese students desirous of attending the University of Guyana (UG) have an opportunity to do so free of cost as the Zara Group of Companies partnered with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to launch its first scholarship
programme.
Two of the scholarships will be available to the public and the remaining two will be offered to immediate family of members of the GPF to attend either the Turkeyen or Tain University campuses, beginning September 2017.
Senior Vice President of Zara Group of Companies, Jay Subraj said the scholarship is the Companies’ way of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
The scholarships are for a duration of four years and cover 100 per cent of the tuition fee at the University of Guyana. The students are required to maintain a high grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in order to continue benefit from the scholarship.
If two or more candidates are eligible, the shortlisted candidates will be selected via a random draw.
To be eligible to apply for the Guyana Police Force Zara Scholarship, candidates must have: recently completed the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) 2017 examination, with a minimum of eight subjects (applicants can apply now and email their results after); provide proof of acceptance letter from the University of Guyana; demonstrate need for financial assistance with letter stating parents’ income; be planning to enrol full-time in a bachelor’s degree programme; have letter to show you have completed at least 100 hours community service; submit letter address to the Guyana Police Force-Zara Scholarship Committee on the topic – your future goals and plans to achieve them.
