14 new COVID-19 cases, 4 in ICU

The daily detection of positive COVID-19 cases has shown that 14 new cases surfaced as of Tuesday.
This information was provided in the Health Ministry’s dashboard which also showed deaths remaining at 1223.
From just over 200 active cases, a total of four patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 26 in institutional isolation, and 211 in home isolation. Another four are in institutional quarantine. Out of the 29,041 males and 34,35 females that contracted the virus, 61,612 have recovered.
Some 546,843 COVID-19 tests have been administered since the virus was detected here.
Regionally, a breakdown showed one new case in Region One (Barima-Waini), two in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), one in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), seven in Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), two in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) and one in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
There were no increases in Regions Five (Mahaica-Berbice), Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Most recent vaccination statistics indicate that 434,037 adults or 84.6 per cent have taken their first dose; when compared to 330,729 or 64.5 per cent second dose coverage.
In the 12 to 17 age group, 33,703 or 46.2 per cent took their first dose and 24,433 or 33.5 per cent have taken their second shot.
Booster doses account 52,688 jabs – spanning 1080 in Region One; 2539 in Region Two; 7317 in Region Three; 26,262 in Region Four; 3282 in Region Five; 8690 in Region Six; 566 in Region Seven; 427 in Region Eight; 1947 in Region Nine; and 578 in Region 10.
All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others; and the need for good hand hygiene.
