1st Bogotá – Georgetown cargo flight lands in Guyana

Air Cargo Pack (Guyana) Inc has completed its first cargo flight from Bogotá, Colombia, to Georgetown, opening a direct air freight connection between Guyana and the South American market. The aircraft arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Friday marking the company’s first successful Bogotá–Georgetown cargo operation. According to the company, the flight demonstrates its ability to coordinate direct cargo movements between Colombia and Guyana as it works to expand air cargo links across Latin America. Air Cargo Pack is licensed to transport cargo between Guyana, Colombia, Panama, Mexico and Brazil. The company said the new connections are intended to provide businesses with additional options for importing and exporting goods across the region. Its cargo services are being developed for importers, exporters, freight forwarders and companies transporting general cargo, fresh produce and perishables, agricultural products, oil and gas equipment, industrial cargo, oversized shipments and other specialised or time-sensitive goods.

Director of Air Cargo Pack (Guyana) Inc, Stefan John, described the first flight as an important milestone for the company. “This is an extremely important milestone for Air Cargo Pack. It represents more than simply landing an aircraft in Guyana. We have demonstrated that we can successfully connect businesses in Guyana directly with Colombia and create new opportunities for trade between our markets,” John said. He said the company’s plans extend beyond Colombia, with efforts to progressively develop cargo connections with Panama, Mexico and Brazil based on market demand. “Our focus now is on building consistent cargo volumes and creating reliable air cargo options for businesses that want greater access to Latin America,” John added. Following the first flight, the company said it is engaging businesses across Guyana to identify import and export requirements and build cargo volumes for future operations.
