Guyana Times understands that a relative of the dead men is one of the persons who is in custody.
Fifty-eight-year-old Leonard Reece of Three Friends, Coomacka Mines, and his nephew, 36-year-old Ronald Wong, who is said to be of unsound mind, were allegedly in a bloody fight sometime between 01:15h and 03:00h on Saturday.
In a report, Police stated that Wong was released from prison in April last after serving time for attempted murder and he moved in with his uncle, Reece, who would usually cook for him on a daily basis.
However, on the day in question, the Chairman of Three Friends, Coomacka Mines, who lives about two houses away from Reece, reported that at about 01:15h on Saturday morning, she was awakened by sounds emanating from Reece’s house.
She told Police that she immediately went out on her verandah where she saw Reece’s 25-year-old son jump through the eastern window of the house shouting “murder, murder”.
The woman immediately raised an alarm and other neighbours went over to the house where Reece’s body was seen with several wounds on the ground.
Police reports further stated that Wong’s body was later found lying face down in a paddleboat in the river with several chops. The Police are continuing their investigations.
