An East Bank Essequibo accident on Sunday afternoon left two motorcyclists dead and several others injured.
Dead are Shar Scott, 23, of Samaroo Dam Pouderoyen and 22-year-old Michkael Jones of Middle Street Pouderoyen, West Coast Demerara. Both men were pillion riders with Gerald Rampersaud and Tyreace Beckles respectively.
Reports are the accident occurred at about 16:00h at Le Destin Public Road, EBE. According to persons in the vicinity, the two motorcyclists, along with about 13 others were riding at a fast rate of speed while displaying stunts when they slammed into motor car PXX 9662, which was driven by a 22-year-old man.
The scene of the accident was stained with blood and wreckage as several of the motorcyclists lay on the roadway with injures. They were all rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where the two were pronounced dead on arrival. Rampersaud and Beckles are in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Meanwhile, a police source said that the taxi driver claimed that he saw about 15 riders who were all manoeuvring the roadway. According to the source, the driver said that after one of the riders slammed into him, he applied brakes, causing several others to collide with his car.

Meanwhile, another motorcyclist is also battling for his life after he was involved in an accident at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
While details are sketchy, reports are that the accident involved the motorcyclist and a motor car.
In a video that was circulating on social media, the man’s motionless body was seen lying along the roadway while his motorcycle laid nearby.
