Police have arrested two men after a quantity of cannabis was discovered during a mobile patrol in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), on Thursday.
According to Police, the discovery was made between 14:40h and 15:00h at Seventh Avenue, Bartica, along the Essequibo River.
Ranks conducting the patrol contacted the occupants of a wooden passenger speedboat that was docked along the shoreline at Seventh Avenue.
During a search of the belongings of a 33-year-old fisherman of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, Police found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis inside a blue Lays chips container.

A further search was carried out on a 35-year-old miner of Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, during which another quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.
Both men were arrested and escorted to the Bartica Police Station along with the suspected narcotics.
Police said the substances were weighed in the presence of the suspects and amounted to 46 grams and 24 grams, respectively.
The two suspects remain in custody pending charges.
