25 arrested, charged for breaching COVID curfew

A total of 25 persons were arrested on Saturday and charged or breaching the national curfew and for being in spaces that violated the gazetted measures which limit the occupancy in bars and restaurants to 40 per cent capacity.
The arrests were made in Buxton, at Chico Ramas Gas Station and at Melanie Market Square on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) between 23:10h and 01:40h.
Among those arrested are Keron Harris, 18, of Nabaclis ECD; Royquan Johnson, 19, of David Street, Kitty, Georgetown; Tarick Alli, 18, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Nicholas Narine, 17, of Gale Street, Annandale, ECD; Akeysha Weatherspoon, 18, of First Street, Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD); Niamloi Browne, 25, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Amdia Cheddie, 26, of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Anni Garraway, 26, of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Ravi Ram, 33, of Lusignan, ECD and Keyon Glasgow, 26, of David Street, Golden Grove, ECD.
Samantha Lorde, 22, of Diamond, EBD; Carissa Easton, 22, of Alberttown, Georgetown; Anthony Roy Bakker, 20, of Houston, EBD; Kevin Bakker, 25, Block 22 Diamond, EBD; Ron Nicholson, 23, of Durban Street, Georgetown; Tariq Rodney, 25, of Bel Air Park, Georgetown; Antonio Moonsammy, 25, of Great Diamond, EBD; Darren Thomas, 24, of Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown; Twana Williams, 26, of Enterprise Road, ECD and Tamalea Kezla, 20, were also arrested and charged.
Police also mentioned that Mathew Benthom, 23, of C Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown; Annessa Moonsammy, 27, of Meadow Brook Gardens; Shaqueena Caesar, 22, of Recht-Door-Zee, West Bank Demerara (WBD); Mikhail Dasilva, 29, of Prashad Nagar, Georgetown and Shawn Grimmond, 28, of Pike Street, Kitty were also arrested.
They were all placed on bail and processed to attend the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
Just recently, the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) announced that the Joint Services would be conducting nationwide patrols to enforce the COVID-19 guidelines.
The curfew is from 22:30h to 04:00h; bars and restaurants are to close at 21:30h.
