Police have arrested a second suspect as investigations continue into the brutal murder of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara businesswoman Bibi Ally.
The 56-year-old woman, of Lot 4 Novar, Mahaicony, was found lying face down in her home about 06:00h on Monday.
Reports are the woman was discovered by her nephew, who went to check on her after she was not seen since Sunday afternoon.
According to reports reaching Guyana Times, Ally’s neck was broken and there were lacerations about her body. The woman’s house was also ransacked, leading Police to suspect she might have been robbed and then killed.
Ally had operated a business in the area supplying farmers with pesticide and weedicide. She also sold phone cards and other items. Several of these items were missing.
Following the discovery, the Police arrested a teenager. He is reportedly from the same village and had an argument with the woman on Sunday when he reportedly threatened to end her life. Investigations are continuing.
