Three Venezuelan nationals were each fined $100,000 after pleading guilty to trespassing on the Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) aerodrome. 
Fined are 44-year-old Linsey Maria, 40-year-old Cruz Jose and 39-year-old Xavier Alexander. They were arrested on August 28, and subsequently charged with trespassing on an aerodrome, contrary to Section 83(1) of the Civil Aviation Act 2018.
They appeared before Magistrate Nikkisha Logan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where they each pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court imposed a fine of $100,000 on each defendant, with an alternative sentence of two months’ imprisonment.
