A 30-year-old man was on Wednesday busted at a Police checkpoint on the Weldaad Public Road, West Bank Berbice (WBD) with 1814 grams of cannabis in his possession.
The man, who is a resident of Cooper Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was at the time a passenger in a minibus, along with nine other persons, that was stopped at the roadblock set up by the Police ranks.
Following a search of the passengers, the cannabis was unearthed in the man’s haversack. Four bulky parcels containing a number of leaves, seeds, and stems of cannabis were in the bag, Police say.
According to Police, the man admitted ownership of the cannabis and was arrested. He remains in custody pending charges. (G9)
