The Georgetown Office Assistants Promotion Committee (GOAPC) 2026 60th Golden Jubilee Independence secondary school boys’ tape-ball cricket competition is set to bowl off on May 23 and 24 at the National Cultural Centre and National Park tarmacs in Georgetown.
The tournament, sponsored by International Import and Supplies, will feature an eight-a-side, 30-ball knockout format and is expected to attract participation from schools across Guyana. Matches on both days are scheduled to begin from 09:00h.

According to event coordinator James “Uprising” Lewis, 31 schools have already registered for the competition, while entries remain open for interested teams.
The organisers noted that the competition is mainly geared towards second, third and fourth form students, as many fifth and sixth formers are currently preparing for and writing Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
Apart from competing for the Independence Cup and medals, participating teams will also have the opportunity to win several additional prizes.
International Import and Supplies boss Joe Jagmohan said the company intends to make the tournament an annual event.
“The event would be an annual feature, since he enjoys watching the youngsters enjoy themselves playing the game they all love,” the release stated.
Lewis also encouraged additional schools to register for the tournament by contacting 672-6179.
