Teen’s body recovered from Cuyuni River

Nineteen-year-old Bryan Gonzalez, a Venezuelan who went missing after he fell into the Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), on Monday, was recovered on Saturday. Since the teen fell overboard, a search party had been traversing the area, hoping to find him alive.

Reports are at about 10:30h on Monday, Gonzalez asked a boat captain to transport him to a place called Devil’s Area in the Cuyuni River. This publication was told that the captain agreed and while travelling on the river, the teen sat on a bucket that was on some gasoline drums. During the rough ride, the bucket reportedly slipped off the drum, throwing the teen overboard.
Efforts were made to rescue him, but the attempts proved futile. Gonzalez’s body is at Bartica’s Hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.
