‘A bigger better 2018 is what I’m looking for’ – John

The perfect mixture of youth, ambition, the drive to succeed and a dangerous final sprint on the back end of a race; meet 20-year-old Jamual John who was Guyana’s most successful cyclist in 2017.
The lanky rider who has endurance that belies his stature will soon celebrate his 21st birthday on January 21.
Speaking to Guyana Times Sport John revealed that while 2017 was an excellent

year for him locally; (he picked up the Guyana Cycling Federation’s award for the best Senior Cyclist and the accolade for the most wins of the year) in 2018 stated he will be “looking for bigger, better things; I plan on going to train in Colombia in February and after that I will be looking to compete at the major races around the Caribbean circuits, however I will not forsake Guyana as I will be returning for all the major races.”
John who is a part of cycling club Team Coco’s said that his proposal to undertake training in Colombia is unclear as the club is yet to approve his move, however John said once granted the opportunity he “will grasp it with both hands as it is a once in a lifetime chance to further develop myself. That way I can further bring glory and accolades home for my country and help to put Guyana on the map”.

ambitious youngster is the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games set for Barranquilla, Colombia in July. He maintained that once selected to represent Guyana at both events he’ll do his best for the Land of Many Waters.
With an eye on the packed year ahead John has already started a rigorous training routine since the turn of the New Year.
He has what it takes to be the very best in his field and no doubt with the right support system and backing from the relevant authorities John will no doubt make Guyana proud and bring home glory as well as help to push other young cyclists in the right direction as he seeks to lead by example.
