$22M worth of ganja, makeshift camps destroyed by Police

A drug eradication exercise at Yaruni Bend, Linden, Upper Demerara River, Region 10, on Thursday led to the destruction of over $22 million worth of ganja.
Based on reports, during the 11-hour exercise, police discovered two cannabis

farms measuring eight acres, with approximately 53,000 cannabis plants ranging from two to six feet in height. In addition, two makeshift camps and two drying areas were located, along with 10 pounds of dried cannabis ready for the market.
As such, the cannabis plants, dried cannabis, makeshift camps and drying areas were all destroyed by fire. Police estimated the value of the narcotics destroyed to be $22,038,728. At the time of the exercise, no arrests were made.
Just last week, approximately $22.8 million worth of ganja was found and destroyed at Long Savannah, Canje Creek, Region Six. It was reported that three cannabis farms covering approximately 10.5 acres, with an estimated 53,500 cannabis plants ranging from four inches to six feet in height, were discovered.
In addition, a single-barrel shotgun, four shotgun cartridges, and a multi- coloured haversack containing three rounds of matching ammunition, two live rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one live round of .32- caliber ammunition were found during the exercise.
