A complete team effort – Permaul after GHE’s second win

Veerasammy Permaul

Veteran Veerasammy Permaul was instrumental with bat and ball in the second round of the ongoing West Indies Championships.
Permaul struck an unbeaten 82 and claimed four wickets in the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ (GHE) recent triumph. He credited the entire team for a complete effort after the Guyanese men scripted an innings and 141-run win.
“I think we played some good cricket overall. From the first innings, our fast bowlers did a good job. We picked up early wickets.”
“With the batting we had some good starts, and then we capitalised and built partnerships. Even the last pair we had a 50-run partnership, so I think that grind Windward Islands out of the game,” Permaul said.
GHE posted 491 all out and wrapped up the Windward Islands Volcanoes for 151 and 199 inside three days.
According to Permaul, Guyana batted the opposition out of the four-day game.
“Once you get a team fielding a day and a half, it’s harder for them to come and bat a full day,” Permaul explained.
GHE will play the Volcanoes again from Sunday, April 26, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
