Albouystown man remanded for shooting at fellow resident

Andrew Ridley, 29, of Sussex Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was on Thursday charged with the offence of discharging a loaded firearm with intent contrary to Section 55 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. Ridley was subsequently remanded to prison until August 10, 2022.
The man is accused of committing the offence on 26-year-old Terrence Basteani, also of Albouystown, Georgetown. The incident occurred on July 10 at School Street, Albouystown.
Police said that Basteani was reportedly at a stall at School Street, Albouystown, making a purchase when Ridley approached from behind on a bicycle and started to threaten him.
Ridley then whipped out a silver gun from the waist of his pants and allegedly fired several gunshots in the victim’s direction. Basteani escaped unhurt while Ridley fled the scene.
Ridley was subsequently apprehended by Police ranks on July 11.
