Henry, 41, of Lot 18 Vigilance North, ECD, took his last breath on Sunday evening following the accident on the Schoonord Access Road, WBD.
Claudette Henry, mother of the dead man, told Guyana Times that her son was at her house on Sunday afternoon, but left soon after to assist Beaton, who was working on his fence.
“He come by me and ask for some food, so I gave him and after he was finish eating I ask him to put a plant in the earth which I had in a bucket… when he finish, he went to help Clarence,” she added. He did not return, but about 02:00h on Monday, she received a call informing her of the devastating news. She visited the mortuary about 08:30h and identified the body.
The father of six, she explained, might have been invited to attend a birthday party by Beaton. The grieving mother said that her son was a very jovial individual. He leaves to mourn his mother, siblings and six children.
According to reports, Beaton was driving his motor vehicle bearing registration number PSS 7212 out of the Parfaite Harmonie Housing Scheme, WBD, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another car, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Guyana Times understands that the occupants of the car driven by Beaton were at a birthday celebration in Parfaite Harmonie and were heading home to the East Coast of Demerara when the accident occurred. Several Guinness bottles and food boxes were seen in the car, leading Police to suspect that the driver might have been driving under the influence.
Following the collision, three persons were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Two of those were treated and sent away, while Gray was admitted. Beaton was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient.
