Badree backs IMC Over-40s World Cup in Guyana

Former West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree has endorsed the 2026 International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup, which will bowl off in Guyana on October 17.
Badree, who is currently in Guyana providing television commentary during the Caribbean Premier League, met Cricket West Indies Masters Association (CWIMA) President Raj Singh on Saturday to discuss the upcoming tournament and the growing excitement surrounding veterans’ cricket.
The 45-year-old Trinidadian congratulated Singh and CWIMA on bringing the global tournament to Guyana. The competition will feature 16 teams, with matches being played at venues across the country before the final at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, on October 31.

“Hello, cricket fans from across the Caribbean and around the world, this October, the excitement of international cricket comes to Guyana for the IMC Over-40s World Cup; 16 teams from around the world will come together for an incredible celebration of cricket, competition, friendship and national pride,” Badree said.
He also encouraged supporters in Guyana to attend the matches with their families and rally behind their respective teams.
Badree represented the West Indies in 52 Twenty20 Internationals and is now an international cricket commentator. Singh thanked the former bowler for supporting the tournament and said he would have been delighted to have Badree serve on the commentary panel for the historic event.
However, Badree will be in South Africa during that period to compete in the annual Legends cricket tournament.
The participating teams will be divided into Groups A and B for the round-robin stage. The leading two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners progressing to the championship match at Providence.
The participating sides include Australia, New Zealand, the West Indies, Namibia, the United States of America, Canada, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, England, India, Scotland, Wales, defending champions South Africa, the Rest of the World XI and the Rest of the Caribbean XI.
President of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is the patron of the tournament.
