Bandits rob water truck driver, porter

Two armed bandits robbed the driver of a water truck and his porter as they were delivering water at 17th Street Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
Reports are that the men, Fabian Rampersaud, 27, a driver, and Yasendra Bedessie, 35, were in the area at about 11:00h when the two bandits – one armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass – pounced on them.
According to Police, both of the victims are employed by AquaFina water delivery service located at Non Pariel, ECD, where Rampersaud works as the driver while Bedessie is employed as a porter.
Police said that as the driver was in the process of turning around the vehicle, they were confronted by the two suspects, who were riding a bicycle.
The victims told Police that the suspect who was armed with the handgun approached the driver, while the other with the cutlass went to the passenger side of the vehicle and began hitting the window, causing it to shatter.
The bandits then demanded cash and relieved the victims of their valuables before making good their escape.
Rampersaud and Bedessie were relived of a CAT cell phone valued $16,000, one gold chain valued $35,000, one car key, one LG cell phone valued $25,000, one NTech cell phone, and $15,080.
Some time ago, a driver/salesman delivering water in Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown, was attacked and robbed by three persons.
Reports are the 35-year-old driver/salesman, who is attached to Demerara Crystal Water, was relieved of $1300 and one Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at $45,000.
Police reports revealed that Joel Kisram was delivering water in the community in motor vehicle GKK 1216, when one of the suspects rode past him and threw his bicycle into the path of the water truck, causing him to stop.
Having halted the vehicle, Kisram was then approached and attacked by three suspects, one of whom dealt him two punctures to his left hand and relieved him of the cash and his cell phone.
The suspects then made good their escape.
