Magic Moments T20 Tournament taking public by storm

The New Amsterdam/Canje Zone of the Berbice Cricket Board organised Magic Moments 20/20 Cricket Tournament bowled off in grand style on Sunday last with Edinburgh, Rose Hall Canje, Betsy Ground, Police, Young Warriors and Sisters Village registering victories. The tournament is being played in four zones: “West Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje, Lower Corentyne and Upper Corentyne and a Champion will be crowned in every zone before the four Champions clash in a playoff tournament for the right to be crowned overall Berbice Second Division 20/20 Champions.
Rose Hall Town Bakewell, Courtland and Fyrish have all advanced to Lower Corentyne Semifinals while Albion and Chesney will clash to determine the fourth team Team.
The Tournament which is being sponsored by Sueria Manufacturing Ltd under the Magic Moments brand has taken the cricketing public by storm with large crowds turning up to support their home teams.

Courtland will play the Rose Hall Town Bakewell team while Fyrish clashes with the winner of the Albion and Chesney match. Scores from the second round of matches are:
1) Rose Hall Town Bakewell defeated Toopoo Cricket Club by 78 runs at the Area ‘H’ Ground. Batting first, Rose Hall Town Bakewell amassed 138 for 5 from their allotted 20-Overs with National Junior Cricketer Junior Sinclair top scoring with a classy 71 and West Indies female player Shemaine Campbelle supporting with 40. Skipper Kevin Sinclair scored 15 as left arm spinner Norman Mangar claimed 2 for 14 from four impressive overs. In response, the visitors were shot out for 60 in 12-Overs as West Indies Female Cricketer Erva Giddings took 3 for 20, Sylus Tyndall 2 for 15 and Junior Sinclair 3 wickets for no runs from 2 Overs.
2) At Port Mourant, the home team was upset by Chesney who squeezed to a close two wickets victory. Daniel Samaroo struck 49 not out as Port Mourant Cricket Club reached 140 for 7 in 20-Overs. Azam Mohamed 20 and Kellon Carmichael 19 supported Samaroo as Imran Khan took 3 wickets for 18 runs from four overs. Stanford 20/20 hero Imran Khan then returned with the bat to stroke 48 and with support from Michael Subhader 28 not out, guided Chesney to victory at 144 for 8 off 19.3 Overs. Bowling for Port Mourant Cricket Club George Hughes took two wickets for 19 and Kellon Carmichael 2 for 40.
3) Courtland Cricket Club defeated Kildonan Cricket Club by ten wickets at the Area ‘H’ Ground in Rose Hall Town. Kildonan batting first was bowled out for 65 in 17-Overs with J. Gray topscoring with 16. Bowling for Courtland Leyland Edwards took 4 for 17 and Troy Mathieson 3 for 12. Courtland reached 66 without loss in 12.3 Overs as Oliver Giddings 28 not out and Leyland Edwards 30 not out batted well.
4) At the Port Mourant Ground, Fyrish defeated Jai Hind by 6 wickets to book a place in the Semifinals. Batting first, Jai Hind was bowled out for 96 in 17.5 Overs. Arif Chan topscored with 28 and Michael Chinsammy 15. Bowling for Fyrish S. Bacchus 3 for 15 and M. Shivdyal 2 for 22. In response, Fyrish reached 95 for 4 in 18-Overs with Y. Chinapen 34 and Javed Mohamed 23. Bowling for Jai Hind in a losing cause, left arm spinner K. Mangal took 2 for 17 from 4-Overs.
