The Georgetown Football Association’s Senior Men’s Knockout competition continued over the last weekend with four matches at the Plaisance Community Ground as Beacon FC, Eastveldt FC and Ordis tasted victory in their respective matches.
On Saturday, Black Pearl FC and Pele FC faced off in a closely-fought contest with neither side able to win the game after a 1-1 stalemate. Pele went ahead 35 minutes in the first half through an Orlando Lovell strike while Black Pearl responded just seven minutes later with Orlando Joe drawing things level. The match went into halftime level at 1-1 and the scoreline remained unchanged by the final whistle.

In the second fixture of the night, Beacon FC eased to a 3-1 win over Motherland FC to strengthen their push for a spot in the semi-finals. Ronaldo Abrams opened the scoring in the 25th minute to put Beacon ahead, but Motherland FC showed grit to equalise just five minutes later as Shamar Adams found the back of the net. Beacon FC’s Jecuan Cole then restored their lead in the 41st minute to carry them into halftime with momentum on their side.
While the resumption of the second half saw a keen contest in midfield between the two teams, Stayon Murray’s 70th minute goal put the tie to rest as his side saw things out to seal an eventually comfortable 3-1 win.
Eastveldt hit Northern Rangers for 7
Meanwhile, on Sunday night, Eastveldt FC dished out a 7-1 thrashing of Northern Rangers FC with Akeem Farley bagging a hat-trick to cap a memorable night of football for his club.
Farley opened proceedings in the 19th minute to put Eastveldt 1-0 up. However, Triston Christian would draw Northern Rangers level in the 35th minute, even if it only lasted for 60 seconds. Farley restored his side’s lead almost immediately, scoring his second of the night in the 36th minute. Tyrone Khan then got in on the act in the 44th minute, making it 3-1 in Eastveldt’s favour.

The second half of the match was a virtual goalfest as Eastveldt put the game to rest with Khan bagging his second goal in the 48th minute. Farley then returned to grab his hat-trick with a 53rd minute strike before Mariheo Eastman (63’) and Akel Clark (71’) put the icing on the cake with goals of their own.
Ordis FC were awarded victory by virtue of walkover after their opponents Genesis FC failed to take to the field. With the walkover, Ordis were awarded three points and three goals to their cause.
The competition continues tonight, Tuesday, May 5, at the same venue with the final round of group stage matches. North Stars FC will lock horns with Motherland FC at 19:00h while Vengy take on Pele FC at 21:00h.
The winners of Groups A, B, C and D will move on to the semi-finals which are slated for Thursday, May 7, while the final and third-place playoff will be held on Saturday, May 9, all at the Plaisance Community Ground.
The competition is sponsored by Nalico/Nafico.
