Biker dies in Essequibo Coast accident

A biker is now dead and an elderly woman hospitalised following an accident on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Sunday.

Dead: Naitram Sankar

Dead is Naitram Sankar, called “Mice” of Agricola, Greater Georgetown, while the injured woman has been identified as 56-year-old Juliet Miller of Kilkenny Street, Queenstown, Essequibo Coast.
The accident occurred about 13:00h on the Queenstown Public Road. At the time of the accident, Sankar was among a party of bikers riding on the Essequibo Coast.
According to reports, Sankar was riding motorcycle CG 1530, proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the road at a fast pace when he ended up on the western parapet and struck Miller.
After hitting the pedestrian, Sankar then crashed into a utility pole on the parapet.
Both the cyclist and the pedestrian were picked up by public-spirited citizens, including Sankar’s biker friends, and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the pedestrian, who suffered a fractured left hip, was admitted for further treatment.
The Police are investigating the accident.
