Blairmont Blazers topple Paradise in one-sided affair
BCB/Lewison General Store Under-15 Tournament…
The Blairmont Blazers Cricket Club have followed up a stellar performance against Achievers Cricket Club by defeating the Paradise Cricket Club in another one-sided affair played at the Blairmont Cricket Ground.
Batting first, Blairmont posted 217 all out in 49 overs — a total less than the 289 scored in round one of this competition, but it proved challenging for a weak Paradise side.
In-form opening batsman Romeo Deonarain scored an impressive 40, which was supported by Arun Jaikarran’s 37 and 20 from the tournament’s only centurion, Rasaad Gaffur.
Bowling for Paradise, R. McDonald returned figures of 2-34.
Needing 218 for victory off 300 balls, Paradise lost a cluster of wickets and were unable to forge a solid partnership.
Deonarain, who starred with the bat, returned bowling figures of 5-35. He maintained a disciplined line and length, and pitched the ball in the right areas.
Sajaad Ishmeal, also, was economical with the ball, returning figures of 3-13.
The only Paradise batsman to offer resistance was Daniel Ramotar, who made 36.
