Body of pensioner found floating in WBD canal

An investigation was launched by the police after the body of 66-year-old Hardat Dhaniram of Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was found floating in a canal on Monday.
The man’s body was found in front of his residence at about 16:45h but was last seen at about 08:30h the said day.
Based on reports received, Police received information that the body of a man was spotted in the canal and went to investigate. Whilst there, they observed the man’s motionless body floating in the canal facing upwards.
He was clad in a grey jersey, a pair of black short pants and a pair of black boots.
Dhaniram’s body was subsequently pulled from the canal and examined during which it was observed that a small portion of skin was peeled off from his left side forehead.
Reports indicate that the victim lived alone in Bella Dam and was last seen by his daughter, who resides at 32 Bella Dam, West Bank Demerara, on Sunday after he went to visit her.
Dhaniram’s body was escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem.
