Briton John dominates Flying Ace 20-lap cycle race

Briton John produced a commanding performance to win the Flying Ace Cycle Club’s 20-lap road race around the outer circuit of the National Park on Sunday.
Representing We Stand United (WSU), John completed the race in one hour, 52 minutes and 26 seconds. He also captured five prime prizes during the event, underlining his dominance.
Continental Cycle Club junior Alexander Leung delivered an impressive ride to finish second overall, while Robin Persaud of AC Marriott Carlton Wheelers secured third place.
Aaron Newton of KFC Evolution placed fourth, followed by Kaieteur Attack Cycle Club’s Alex Mendes in fifth, and Paul DeNobrega in sixth.
Defending champion Jamual John was unable to challenge for consecutive honours. He does not ride or train regularly and could not match the pace required to retain his crown.

Leung’s strong showing also earned him first place in the junior category.
Persaud topped the Veterans Open division, ahead of Mendes and Segun Hubbard. Ian Jackson won the Veterans Over-50 category, with Nigel London taking second.
In the Category Four contest, Collis Williams claimed first place, Quincy Punch finished second and Kevin Seaton secured third.
During the presentation ceremony, officials from race sponsor Farm Supplies Guyana Limited expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the event. They also pledged the company’s continued support for the race in the future.
