Buxton Youth Developers won their second match on the trot when they defeated Charlestown Secondary 5-0 when the sixth annual Milo Schools Football Tournament continued on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Shemar Kingston scored in the seventh and 39th and received support from Shamesh London in the 15th and 46th while Teshawn Gordon scored in the 58th to further sink the woes of the opposition in the one-sided contest.
More so, former champions Lodge Secondary surged to a 3-1 victory over Queenstown Secondary. The goals were equally shared for Lodge with Shemroy Mayers (26th), Ricky Stewart (45th) and Adrian Berkshire (70th) being the marksman while Carl Chisholm scored in the 66th for the opposition.
St. Roses lost to a 2-1 margin to Uitvlugt Secondary; Victor Chin had put the Church Street unit ahead in the 40th but Anthony Benn equalized two minutes later followed by Mickel Mckend in the 70th.
The under-18 tournament which is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health under theme “there is no excuse for violence” continues this weekend with more round robin matches as teams are hoping to secure the first place prize of $500,000 which goes towards a school project.
On Saturday, round two continues with Sir Leon’s Lesson battling Cummings Lodge from noon followed by Linden’s Christainburg Secondary meeting Dolphin Secondary from 13:30h and the final match of the day being Masters Academy and Queen’s College from 15:00h.
At the same starting times on Sunday, Ann’s Grove do battle with Vergenogen Secondary followed by Pure Masters and School of the Nations. The final match will be a tough one for the Bishops’ High who tackle rampant 2017 runners-up Morgan’s Learning Centre.
