CANU finds shotgun during lodge operation

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), acting on information received, conducted an operation at a premises in the Lodge area, Georgetown, comprising three separate houses. During the search, officers discovered a shotgun concealed between two concrete structures. The recovered weapon was confiscated and handed over to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for further ballistic testing and forensic analysis. This comes the day after the discovery of over 98 pounds (lbs) of foreign ganja and five firearms with ammunition at Princes Street, Georgetown.
It was reported that a search at a premises unearthed approximately 86 parcels containing foreign cannabis weighing 98.3lbs, valued at around $80 million. In addition, four pistols and one rifle were also discovered at the location.
Also on Tuesday, two men were arrested after a .38 Special Smith & Wesson revolver, along with one live round of matching ammunition and one black 9mm Baikal Makarov pistol, was found during an operation at Castello Housing Scheme, West La Penitence, Georgetown.
