The Carlton Wheelers Cycling Club is set to stage the Jude Bentley Memorial Cycling Race on Sunday, May 3, at the Inner Circuit of the National Park, with riders from across multiple categories expected to compete in tribute to the late cyclist.
The event, which is scheduled to start at 07:00h, will bring together competitors from a wide cross-section of the local cycling fraternity, with races planned in the Open, Masters Over-40, Masters Over-50, Category Four, Junior/Juvenile, Mountain Bike, Ladies, and BMX divisions.
Organisers have indicated that the race is intended not only as a competitive outing but also as a moment of remembrance, honouring the life and contribution of Jude Bentley to the sport. Cyclists are being encouraged to participate in what is anticipated to be a competitive morning of racing on the National Park circuit.
A notable feature of this year’s event is that registration for the BMX category will be free, a move aimed at encouraging greater participation among younger riders and expanding involvement in that segment of the sport.
An entry fee of $2000 will be required for the other categories.
The Carlton Wheelers Cycling Club is expecting a strong turnout, with the event positioned as both a tribute and an opportunity for cyclists to test themselves in a structured race environment early in the day.
