Cat Ruler rules, Red Jet prevails at Ryan Crawford Memorial

Despite morning showers across the Corentyne Coast, the action-packed horse racing event rode off on Sunday last at the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports facilities. In the two major events of the day, Cat Ruler and Red Jet won their respective races in style.

Opening the event was the L2&Lower class category that saw Flo Jor reigning supreme and Red Jet running second. In the second race of the day it was all Silver Charm defeating Perfection (second), Uptown Boss (third) and He is in control (fourth).
In the third race of the day, the 1100 meters L3 (Unclassified) race, Isabella, rode by Kevin Paul was the dark horse completing the win. Isabella out ran Brock Gun (second), Joyful (third) and Dessert Storm in the excited race. The fourth race of the day, the 3 year old maiden was arguably the most anticipated event.
Horses that won the race in this category prior to this was barred from running since this class catered for first-timers. The likes of Ebony Prince and Mark were not allowed to race. After the delay, the race began with Cat Ruler rode by Renaldo Appadu, started in last position and was gapped by the two other horses that took part in the event.
Cat Ruler of Gideon Horsing Stables, showed his class running in finesse to win the race and closing in the gap set early on in the race. Caricom Boy succumbed to finish second while Princess Celine rode in third positon.
The tension rose when the J&Lower race got underway; the favorite and home town horse, Massapequa Doctor was outrun by Red Jet in the tightest of finish. Hundreds of supporters were treated when Red Jet at 111 weight by Jockey Ross, ran first while Massapequa Doctor (second) and Release the Heat (third) completed the most enticing race of the day.
This one-day horse racing that saw the purse of the events being unknown was held for the lat Mr and Mrs Crawford were proudly sponsored by beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd., Jumbo Jet, Collin Elcock, NTN Television Station, Annirude Constructions, Fazal Habbibula and special mentioned was also extended to Mr Hookumchand of GUYOIL.
