Shivnarine Chanderpaul played another rescue innings for the umpteenth time in his career as the Guyana Jaguars secured a remarkable draw against the Leewards Hurricanes when round three of the 2017/18 Cricket West Indies (CWI)/ Digicel Regional 4-Day tournament ended on Sunday at the Warner Park Ground.

after the Jaguars endured a tough last three days. After the Hurricanes piled on 412-9 declared, Guyana were bowled out for 206 in their first innings.
Trailing by 153 runs heading into the final day of play, the champs who resumed on 53-2 from 41 overs, finished on 305-6 from 116 overs; leading by 99 runs when curtains came down on the final day.
Captain Leon Johnson resumed on 27 not out and night-watchman Veerasammy Permaul unbeaten on 6. Openers Tage Chanderpaul (16) and Chandrapaul Hemraj (00) were the batsmen to be dismissed by Nkrumah Bonner (1-6) and Mervin Mathew (1-8), respectively prior to stumps on day three.
Johnson missed out on a fifty after he ended with six fours in his score of 41 before he was removed by Bonner. The in-form Vishaul Singh who scored 35 joined forces with Chanderpaul as the duo added a vital 67-run partnership.
Following Singh’s dismissal, wicket-keeper Anthony Bramble continued his good form with the bat this season, scoring his third half-century; an unbeaten 57 with four fours and three sixes.
Bramble and the veteran who stroked 10 fours and two maximums in his 147-ball 109, shared a match-saving partnership of 122 runs.
When Chanderpaul was sent packing it was Bramble and all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford who took Guyana to safety. Rutherford ended with 22 including four boundaries.
