Charrandas Persaud will be praised as well as criticised for his ‘conscience’ vote

Dear Editor,
“The voice of the people is the voice of God.” God has spoken on Friday, December 21. This country can breathe once again in the hope that the election due in the next three months will herald a new dawn.
This country needs leaders with integrity, people of honour and trustworthiness. A person of integrity is open and honest. He is true to his word. He keeps his commitments.
People of integrity are the same in private as they are in public.
A person of integrity does what is right whether someone is watching or not. If you are not telling the truth, you are being dishonest. Sooner or later, it will catch up with you. What you sow, you will eventually reap.
Integrity is the foundation upon which a truly successful Government is built. Every time we compromise, every time we are less than honest, we are causing a slight crack in that foundation.
If we continue to compromise, that foundation will never be able to hold what we want to build.
Mr Charrandas Persaud will be praised as well as criticised for his ‘conscience’ vote. Conscience is like a shoe: when it doesn’t fit, it may appear nice outwardly, but no matter how carefully you try to walk, you know exactly where it pinches.
One who is good before his conscience is good before God. No man should stand convicted before his conscience. If your conscience is clear, you can stand against the opinion of the world; no matter how dense the darkness around you, you shall pierce the gloom.
Some will hate you, some will love you;
Some will flatter, some will slight;
Cease from man and look above you;
Trust in God and do the right.

Yours truly,
Pt Ramdial Balbadar
