Ushering in the holiday season this year in Georgetown will be the big cultural and culinary extravaganza that shall be known as ‘Christmas at the Promenade’ which will be held on Sunday, December 16, at the Promenade Gardens located at Middle and Waterloo Streets in Georgetown.
Patrons will step into a world of festive delights at the Promenade Gardens where they will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the season in the enchanting and inspiring tropical garden which will be transformed into a wonderland of fun and excitement.
Headlining the cultural spectacular will be the iconic singer and songwriter Dave Martins and his band who will belt out many of his noteworthy compositions. There will be many additional entertaining performances and cultural acts throughout the afternoon and evening by other top Guyanese artistes and performers.
Apart from the grand Christmas concert, there will be food choices galore, with a popular assortment of participating food vendors offering everything from Guyanese Christmas treats and holiday eats to an assortment of succulent cuisines.
Attendees will also be able to escape the busy downtown Georgetown area this Christmas, and do your festive shopping at the ‘Christmas at the Promenade’ event instead. The ‘Merry Market Place’ will play host to the vending of everything Christmas with bargain-priced holiday products – from Christmas cards, stationery, lights, decorations, ornaments, Christmas tree stands, skirts and other accessories, stockings, wreaths, garlands, gift bags, wrapping paper and supplies, Christmas candy along with holiday party supplies – so you’re sure to find the perfect gift and get into the festive spirit.
This event, which is being hosted by Marian Academy, will appeal to the entire family and parents are encouraged to bring out their children to enjoy the magical experience of the Kids Zone where there will be face painting, bouncy castles and many games and to visit the Santa Express Booth.
Gates to the venue open at 16:00h and patrons are encouraged to use the Middle Street entrance.
