Close to 70 horses entered for Boxing Day meet

More than 65 horses confirmed entry for the Boxing Day horse race meet on Friday, December 26, at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
Seven exciting races are on the cards, and close to $10 million in cash will be up for grabs. The feature race will have a purse of $2 million.
The feature race, which will be open to all horses in Guyana, will see the animals battling over one mile for the Sunny Kharag Memorial Stakes. The Sprint Classic will feature horses running at five furlongs, and the cash prize up for grabs is $700,000.

Exciting horse racing action is set for Boxing Day

The winner of the G and lower event gets $500,000 and a trophy in the five-furlong race.
Meanwhile, the Guyana-bred two-year-old maiden horses will compete over five furlongs, with the winner bagging $350,000 and a trophy. The I Class and lower race will be seven furlongs, and the top horse will be rewarded $350,000.
In addition, the winner of the event for the L and K class horses is set to take home $350,000 and a trophy in the six-furlong race. Horses in the L and lower non-earners will be running six furlongs, and the top prize is $350,000.
The Kennard’s Memorial is known for its picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the track has been in top shape heading into the Boxing Day race. The event will be conducted using the rules of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club. Race time is 12:30h local time.
