Clothes vendor charged for stealing cellphone

A clothes vendor was released on $50,000 bail by Magistrate Leron Daly when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday on a simple larceny charge.
Tevin Payne pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between May 12 and May 13, 2018, at Yarrow Dam, La Penitence, Georgetown, he stole one Samsung cellphone from Delicia Brown.
Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh did not object to bail being granted to the accused while informing the court that the matter is still being investigated.
Payne in his defence told the court that he did not steal the phone, stating it was given to him by Brown. The matter was adjourned until May 28.
