A 22-year-old Venezuelan national was robbed of his motorcycle during an armed attack at Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, in the early hours of Friday.
According to police, the robbery under arms occurred at about 04:00h on Friday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was riding home on a motorcycle with another man when they were confronted by two males travelling on another motorcycle.
Police said one of the suspects, who was reportedly armed with a cutlass, dismounted and confronted the victims. During the encounter, one of the victims engaged the armed suspect in a scuffle.
The suspect managed to mount on the victims’ motorcycle, while his accomplice rode the motorcycle on which they had arrived. The two suspects then escaped in an eastern direction on the two motorcycles.
Police said no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
